About Guru

Nadee Priyadarshani
(Bachelor of Performing Arts (Special) -Colombo)

Nadee is a full-time Early Childhood Teacher based in Auckland, New Zealand.
An experienced former dancing teacher in a government school in Sri Lanka and as a choreographer she got plenty of talents in Sri Lankan Traditional Dance which are Kandyan, Low Country and Sabaragamu styles. Nadee started her career as a student in Poramadulla Central National School. Her first guru was Mr.Indrawansa. While she was waiting to enter University of Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo, She was fortunate to starting her career as a teacher in a government school in Central Province and Nadee guided her students to win District and All Island dancing championships among famous schools.

While Nadee was studying in the university, she continued to learn Kandyan Dancing, Low Country and Sabaragamu Dancing, Ballet, Barathanatyam and other Indian dance styles under the eminent guru’s Mudiyanse Dissanayake, Piyasara Shilpadipathi and Rangana Ariyadasa. After graduating from the University of Visual and Performing Arts Colombo, she continued to work as a teacher in dancing.

Now she is willing to share her knowledge and talents through her teaching experience for a new generation of students based in Auckland. Her passion in dancing continues to explore opportunities to improve her skills as a teacher and choreographer.

The dance is a poem of which each movement is a word.
